FAQ'S

DO I NEED PLANNING PERMISSION
All of Cabin Viva's studios are built to comply to permitted development, however, certain restrictions may be in place on your property which would mean that you need to apply for permission, such as it being a listed building or in an AONB. Please refer to the government's planning portal for further information.

DO I NEED BUILDING REGULATIONS
Most garden studios are exempt from building regulations if they comply with certain criteria regarding size, proximity to the boundary and use. I design each studio so as not to need building regulations.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO HEAT MY CABIN
An electric heater is normally perfect for heating the studio. These come in many shapes and sizes. I do not recommend underfloor heating as this requires a fixed internal layout of the studio and can be expensive if something goes wrong.

WILL MY GARDEN STUDIO BE TOO HOT IN SUMMER
I build using a vented roof system that allows excess heat to be carried away in the hotter summer months. It also keeps the roof from forming condensation which could damage the timber structure. The insulation used is both fireproof and sound insulating while giving excellent thermal comfort. I can also supply air conditioning units if required.

WHO WILL BUILD IT
Cabin Viva is owned and run by me, Danny Law. I carry out the majority of the work, only using sub contractors for the foundations and the electrics. I am there from start to finish and work closely with you to make sure your studio meets all expectations.

WILL MY GARDEN BE DUG UP FOR FOUNDATIONS
I use an innovative screw pile foundation system that is installed in less than a day and requires no digging or heavy machinery that could disturb your garden.

ARE THE ELECTRICS SAFE
All electrical work is carried out by a fully qualified electrician and comes with an electrical certificate.
